Knit Your First Sweater: The Louisiana Sweater Class — Fall 2026

Knit Your First Sweater: The Louisiana Sweater Class — Fall 2026
Knit Your First Sweater: The Louisiana Sweater Class
6 sessions · 8 weeks · Everything included · Fall 2026
Thursday evenings, 5:30–7pm · September 19 – November 5
You've learned to knit. Now make something you'll actually wear.
The Louisiana Sweater is a gorgeous chunky pullover designed by PetiteKnit, and it's the perfect first garment. Chunky yarn, clean lines, a satisfying top-down construction. No seaming. No mystery. Just the confidence of knowing exactly what you're doing and why.
This isn't a drop-in workshop. It's a guided 8-week journey from cast-on to finished sweater, with your teacher beside you every step of the way.
What makes this class different
Most people who want to knit a sweater never start. They worry about fit, about gauge, about wasting expensive yarn and a lot of time on something that won't turn out. Those fears are completely reasonable, and this class is specifically designed to eliminate them.
We work through everything together: in class, between sessions in our private online community, and through full video tutorials you can revisit any time. If you get stuck on a Tuesday night, you're not stuck alone.
What you'll learn
How to knit and use a gauge swatch (the skill that makes everything else work)
How to understand ease and choose the right fit for your body
Top-down raglan construction, one of the most versatile techniques in garment knitting
The Italian bind-off for a clean, elastic edge
How to block and care for your finished sweater
By the end of class, you'll have a finished sweater and the framework to knit garments independently.
Everything is included ($137 value)
No running to the store not knowing what to get. No wondering if you bought the right needles. Your kit contains everything you need:
Soft merino-alpaca blend yarn in a classic cream
Interchangeable needle tips (two sets) and three cords (*contact us if you already have needles or want to buy a set instead)
Stitch markers, tapestry needle
A cotton drawstring project bag to keep it all together
Prerequisite: You should be comfortable with long-tail cast on, knit, purl, ribbing, and binding off, with reasonably even tension. If you've taken a beginner knitting class with me, you're ready.
Can't make it to all sessions?
There is no session on 10/8 and 10/29 - you will work on your own these weeks (but encouraged to come to Fiber Club Social!). If you need to miss any other classes, please get in touch! We can usually work something out.
Enrollment is limited. This class is intentionally kept small so every student gets individual attention.
*No refunds.
